The Sprint to USO begins...

The tournament was first contested in 1969 and this is the 52nd edition of the Washington Open. Like so many tourneys it was cancelled last year because of the Covid pandemic. But this year the tournament will feature 100% fan capacity and full prize money.

This is the first edition of the tournament, although it was preceded by a small tourney last year featuring six Romanian players. Currently it is the only WTA tournament in Romania
