After Wimbledon - A return to Clay, mostly

ATP 500 - Hamburg European Open, Hamburg, Germany
ATP 250 - Hall of Fame Open, Newport, RI, USA
ATP 250 - Nordea Open, Bastad, Sweden
WTA 250 - Hungarian Grand Prix Budapest, Hungary
WTA 250 - Livesport Prague Open, Prague, Czech Republic
WTA 250 - Ladies Open Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland

No time to mourn the oh so short soothing sight of the green grass of Wimbledon.  If you are a tennis buff there is tennis enough this week to prevent withdrawal symptoms.

ATP- Hamburg European Open, Hamburg, Germany

New Concert Hall, Hamburg (I think we have seen this before)

Draw: singles 28, doubles 16

2020 champ: Rublev (from Sept.)

Seeds: Tsitsipas, Carreno Busta, Basilashvili, Ramos-Vinolas, Lajovic, Krajinovic, Struff, Paire.

Other notables: F. Lopez, Pouille, Bedene

Wildcards went to Tsitsipas, Germans Kohlschreiber and Altmaier and 21-year-old Nicola Kuhn, who represented Germany from 2014-16 before switching his allegiance to Spain.

ATP - Hall of Fame Open, Newport, RI, USA

Newport, Rhode Island Hall of Fame

The one ATP grass tournament in the US.
Draw: singles 28, doubles 16
2019 champion: John Isner, who has won the title four times

Wildcards: Anderson, Sock and 42-year-old Karlovic, who won the title in 2016.

This is such a historic tournament, with the first U.S. National Lawn Tennis Championships (which much later became the US Open) contested in 1881 at the Newport Casino. Casino is not a reference to gambling, but is derived from the Italian word, la casina or “little house.”
