Wimbledon Qualifications, Mallorca, Germany, Eastbourne

To quote Peter from the last thread “the Shadow of Wimbledon looms.”  Sounds like a line from Hitchcock movie (dun dun dun dun) and sounded so dramatic but oh so appropriate.  No wordy intro this week folks but you do have a working thread…….Enjoy the continued run up to Wimbledon - my favorite Slam.  This is a bit slapped together - hey if you think I would cut my jaunts to Napa Valley and Yountville (what a name) to perfect a blog  - well no……typing on the IPad in the back seat of the car is just……

(PS - send me any corrections I will try and get to them ASAP…..)

Monte Carlo and BJKC and Charleston again

ATP Monte Carlo; WTA Charleston 2; ITF BJKC playoffs

Here comes the first big one on clay for the men. The Monte Carlo Masters. The women have a Fed Cup Billie Jean King Cup appointment - the World Group playoffs (I think), and Charleston was nice enough to warrant another week there, but this time just a WTA 250. I'm gonna start with the grand!

Full blown clay season (no)

Fed Cup (nope); ATP Monte Carlo (nope)

These humans! So disappointing! Washing hands, staying home. So hard being their friend! Still, yo! I'm your buddy, SARS-CoV-2, come on! It's f-ing Easter! Go see your relatives!
Ladies should be playing the Fed Cup Finals and Play-offs and the gents a huge ATP1000 in Monte Carlo.

Post AO Blues

ATP Cordoba, Montpellier, Pune; Fed Cup WG Playoffs

So here we are, 1st GS of the season under our belt, with a fresh face for the ladies and an old one for the gents (as per usual). But there's no rest for the wicked as they say: the men go on three continents for three ATP 250s while the women do the same for the Fed Cup World Group playoffs.

Fed Cup Final; ATP Next Gen

Fed Cup Final; ATP Next Gen Finals

What can I say? It's a global sport!
We had the SWTAFS, but the real end of the season for the women is always The Fed Cup Final. The men turn into boys for one week with The Milan Next Gen Finals, as an appetizer for London.
