ATP Monte Carlo; WTA Charleston 2; ITF BJKC playoffs
Here comes the first big one on clay for the men. The Monte Carlo Masters. The
women have a Fed Cup Billie Jean King Cup appointment -
the World Group playoffs (I think), and Charleston was nice enough to warrant
another week there, but this time just a WTA 250. I'm gonna start with the
grand!
Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters
Monte Carlo Country Club |
First ATP Masters 1000 of the year on clay. Out of the top 20

Djokovic, Medvedev, Nadal, The Tsi, Zverev, Rublev, Schwartzman and
Berrettini. The other eight byeless seeds are
RBA, Monfils, Goffin, PCB, Hurkacz, Dimitrov, Fognini and Garin.
Let's check out the draw (projected R16).

Stefanos Tsitsipas and hist 1st ATP Masters 1000 trophy |
Onto the women.
MUSC Health Women's Open, Charleston
Complex at Daniel Island |
If you are wondering, MUSC is Medical University of South Carolina. For some
reason MUSC Health threw me off and towards some fitness supplements... OK,
this one is an offshoot of C19. It's a one and only deal, just for this year.
WTA 250 with 32 players in the draw. No byes. The eight seeds are
Jabeur, Linette, Rogers, Cornet, Doi, Tomljanovic, Davis and
Brengle. Brengle is #81, just sayin'... Let's still try for a
"who else?"... Hibino, McNally, Kovinic, Vandeweghe, Wang (Y) and
McHale v Errani. We did it!
Astra Sharma and her 1st trophy (I kinda feel sorry for her...) |
Billie Jean King Cup playoffs
Reading on this gave me a headache. So I'm gonna do a copypasta!
The Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas Play-offs will take place on 16-17
April 2021 and will feature the eight losing nations from the Qualifiers and
the eight promoted teams from the regional Group I events – four teams from
Europe/Africa Group I, two teams from Americas Group I, two teams from
Asia/Oceania Group I.
