The Montpellier tournament, which began in 2010, has always had a strong contingent of French players. There have been 8 French singles champions, including three-time winners Gael Monfils (2010, 2014, 2020) and Richard Gasquet (2013, 2015-16).

Non-French winners include Tomas Berdych in 2012 and Alexander Zverev in 2017. Zverev also won the doubles title that year, with his brother Mischa.

Founded in 1996, this is the tourney’s third location after New Delhi and Chennai. It moved to Pune in 2018, but was not held in 2021.
