Lady Liberty - still going strong

How many of these facts did you know about New York?

The New York City library is home to more than 50 million books. As such, it’s the third largest library in the world and the second largest in the United States behind the Library of Congress.

More than 800 languages are spoken in New York City. Yes, 800! As a result, it is the most linguistically diverse city in the world.

Which landmark is older? Brooklyn Bridge or the Tower Bridge in London? If you guessed the Brooklyn Bridge, you’re correct. That was news to me

Albert Einstein’s brain and eyeballs are kept in a safe box in New York City 😳👀

It’s not illegal to go topless in New York City.

Going topless may be legal in New York City but Uhmmm - passing wind in a church could result in a misdemeanor. This is due to a law stating a person is guilty of disruption or disturbance of a religious service, funeral, burial or memorial service “when he or she makes unreasonable noise or disturbance while at a lawfully assembled religious service, funeral, burial or memorial service, or within one hundred feet thereof, with intent to cause annoyance or alarm or recklessly creating a risk thereof.” 😂😂😂

The Men's and Women's Trophies -  I want one

Those left standing:

What's that famous quote? "The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat?" We the fans with our favorite athletes get to witness the embodiment of this over and over. Shoot some of us grieve for days as if we ran miles around a court hitting a fuzzy yellow ball. So as we start the second week of USO 2021 we salute those bravehearts who have battled through 5 setters, 3 setters, rain, heat, and extra loud crowds (a plus and a negative) to earn their place in Round 16. We salute them all....

The first week of the US Open certainly had plenty of drama and excitement. The biggest news was two 18 year olds with big upsets. Leylah Fernandez beat the No.3 seed and defending champ Naomi Osaka.
One of the biggest upsets of course is the World #1 Ashleigh Barty fell to unseeded Shelby Rogers. On the men's side 18 year old Carlos Alcaraz upset No.3 seed Stefanos TsitsipasA third 18 year old, Emma Raducanu, joins them for the 2nd week.

Excitement and speculation of course continues to build as Novak Djokovic continues his quest for his 21st Major and completing the Grand Slam.
