Well we survived the first slam of 2023.  Two weeks zipped by and the first set of slam champions for 2023 are on record and are "Happy like Pappy" - sorry Trinidadian saying....Congrats again to all the winners.  I know most would have liked another outcome on the men's side but I am reminded that on any given day upsets can happen, the mental game sometimes is the main game and in the final analysis you play whomever is across the net.  I for one am happy to get back to a decent sleeping rhythm...

A light tennis week ahead of us with two WTA 250 tourneys in Thailand and France and Davis Cup qualifying matches in several countries.

Let's see who is playing....

Davis Cup Qualifiers

Many ATP players have the week off, while others will be taking part in the Davis Cup Qualifiers. There are 24 teams, with the 12 winning teams qualifying for the Davis Cup Finals in the fall. All ties are on a home and away basis. Four teams have already qualified for the finals – the 2022 DC finalists, Canada and Australia, plus two wildcards, Spain and Italy

Seeded teams:

Croatia, France, USA, Germany, Great Britain, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Sweden, Netherlands, Argentina, Czech Republic

Highlights include:

Greece vs Ecuador in Athens, featuring Stefanos Tsitsipas. (Will the poor lamb be exhausted after his AO exploits?)

Denmark vs India in Hillerod, featuring Holger Rune

  Davis Cup

Always thanks to Hartt for her research.
