One of my favorite poets is the 12th century Persian poet Omar Khayyam who famously wrote in the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam: The moving finger writes; and, having writ, moves on: nor all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel half a line, nor all thy tears wash out a word of it. I thought of this often as I watched an aging, injured but willing Nadal and Sir Mumble Grumble Murray's determined effort to defy bone and cartilage. Orthopedic doctors should pay him to promote hip resurfacing surgery. Incredible and inspiring 5:45 hours match between Sir and Kokkinakis! Alas the moving finger writes.
There were some surprising results/upsets in the first week of AO 2023 and of course the Netflix curse was in full force much to Hartt's chagrin. Those players featued in the documentary either fell sick, got injured or fell early in the tourney. Sigh! Hey at least Felix lasted to the 4th round before the curse took effect! Two of the bright spots were bright indeed. Ben Shelton on the men's side and Linda Fruhvirtova on the women's side.So who is left standing?....
