INTERNAZIONALI BNL D'ITALIA - ROME ATP/WTA MASTERS 1000

 


Last week was all Madrid, this week it's all Rome - both tours, not much rest, another Masters 1000 and a week before Roland Garros for a very grueling May on Clay.

First congratulations to the two Singles Champs in Madrid - Ons Jabuer and (no surprise now) Carlos Alcaraz who defeated Rafa, Djokovic then totally annihialated Alexander Zverev in the Final in an hour!

Won the Italian Open in 1957,1961 - was ranked World #3, retired in 1973 with 44 titles.

Amadeo Modigliani 1884-1920)
Influenced by Toulouse-Lautrec, Modigliani was plagued by illness since a child, suffered from advanced tuberculosis in his 20's, his behavior stood out even in the Bohemian surroundings of the Expressionism & Surrealism movements in Paris of the 1920s & 30s. Frequent affairs, drank, used drugs, absinthe & hashish - died at age 35 becoming the epitome of the tragic artist, creating a posthumous legend almost as well known as that of Vincent van Gogh.
