ATP+WTA Rome
The most important clay tournament that is not RG. For both the women and
the men. I think it qualifies. Madrid is trying but still doesn't have the
panache. And MC is just for the guys. Almost everyone is here. From the top
20 we have just Andreescu (last minute withdrawal due to C19 policies in Italy, with her just having it not long ago) Serena, Azarenka and Federer, Raonic missing.
I'm not sure what's the C19 approach in Rome, I suspect they will allow some
crowd, maybe 25%? We'll see.

The Women
WTA 1000. Big one. Unlike Madrid that had a full 64 players draw, Rome goes
with 56, so the top 8 seeds have byes:
Barty, Osaka, Halep, Kenin, Svitolina, Andreescu, Sabalenka, Serena and Pliskova. The other eight seeds are
Pliskova, Bencic, Kvitova, Muguruza, Brady, Mertens, Swiatek, Konta and Sakkari. Ostapenko hits the jackpot again, like in Madrid, she's
the last direct acceptance into the MD (as #50). So yes, this is a tough one,
great matches from the very 1st round. Let's check the draw (projected R16).

The Men
ATP Masters 1000. Same deal as for the women: 56 players in the draw. The
seeds with byes are
Djokovic, Nadal, Medvedev, Thiem, The Tsi, Zverev, Rublev and
Schwartzman. The other eight seeds are
Berrettini, RBA, PCB, Goffin, The Shap, Monfils, Hurkacz and
Dimitrov. Last into the MD is Lloyd (#51). Basically everyone
showed up. Let's look at the draw (projected R16).
