ATP Vienna, Nur-Sultan; WTA nada
ATP is still going strong, while WTA is almost done for the year. So this week
is just for the lads. One ATP 500 and one ATP 250 (last of the four bonus C19
tournaments batch).
Erste Bank Open, Vienna
Wiener Stadthalle |
ATP 500. 32 players in the draw which means no bye nonsense for a change. The
eight seeds are
Djokovic, Thiem, The Tsi, Medvedev, Rublev, Schwartzman, Monfils, The
Shap. Brutal, if you ask me. All are in top 12. Who else show up:
Coric v Fritz, Dimitrov v The Khach, Evans, PCB, Anderson, FAA, Sinner v
Ruud, The Man, Nishikori. Did I say brutal? Last MD direct entry was #31 Hurkacz. Should I say
it again?
Andrey Rublev |
Astana Open, Nur-Sultan
Hazret Sultan Mosque |
ATP 250. Draw of 28. Top four seeds have byes:
Paire, Kecmanovic, Mannarino, Millman. The other four seeds are
Sandgren, Bublik, Paul, Thompson. Compared to Vienna this is weaksauce.
Seeds from #27 to #60. Last MD acceptance is Duckworth #91. Let's see if I can
pick some "others". Well...
Delbonis v Kukushkin, Norrie, Seppi, Albot, Verdasco, The Tiaf v Moutet.
John Millman and his maiden trophy |
And the unfortunate coda again:
- Daily youtube update with the scientific side of the fight against covid-19 , explained in pretty intelligible terms. (That links to a playlist, just click on the freshest clip. Or you know... get really into it from the beginning.)
