Still All Over the Place!

ATP Rotterdam, Buenos Aires, New York;

WTA St. Petersburg, Hua Hin

The men again traipse on three continents for one ATP 500 and two ATP 250, while the ladies limit themselves to two continents, having a WTA Premier and a WTA International to play.
So let's start with the ladies this time.

St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy

Yeah I know, this is not The Hermitage, nevertheless it's the tallest skyscraper in Europe!
WTA Premier (470 points) on HC indoor. First four seeds have byes the other four do not: Bencic, Bertens, Kvitova, Konta, Vondrousova, Sakkari, Vekic, Rybakina. Two top tenners (Oh, Petra, you're sliding down #11) and the rest are all top 25. Pretty tough stuff. Other notable names: Kuznetsova, Ostapenko, Sevastova, Garcia, Kasatkina, Alexandrova, AVU, Mladenovic, Kudermetova. Tough, tough draw!
Kiki Bertens and runner-up Elena Rybakina - classic trophies, which after the whole ceremony is a bit of a letdown.

GSB Thailand Open Presented by E@, Hua Hin

See the pony? Forget about it and look at those clouds!
WTA International (280 points), HC but this time outdoor. They managed to lure a top tenner: Svitolina and one from top twenty: Martic, but they go weak fast: Wang Q., Zhang, Linette, Wang Y., Zhu, Hibino (who's #84). You wanna know the last direct acceptance on MD? Well OK, then, it's Yuan (#225). Yeah. Weak sauce. Svitolina should make room for her next trophy. Let's see if there is anyone else to shout (or better whisper?) about. So there's a 3rd Wang (X1), Peng and Țig (read it as tsig).
Magda Linette - That trophy looks cool and at the same time very cheap.

Onto the gents now.

ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, Rotterdam

The Market Hall (AKA The Fantastic Cave Full of Goodies).
ATP 500, HC indoor. 32 in the draw, so no byes for the eight seeds. Four top ten, the rest top twenty (awesome, right?): Medvedev, The Tsi, Monfils, Goffin, Fognini, RBA, Rublev, The Shap. Who else? Well: Simon, Basilashvili, Evans, The Khach, PCB, Sinner, Dimitrov, FAA. It's pretty impressive overall.
Gael Monfils - Last week he got the Sun, this week a plate, I wonder what's the plan for next week...

Argentina Open, Buenos Aires

Puente de la mujer (I'm a sucker for bridges, what can I say?)
ATP 250, clay, outdoor. Top four seeds with byes as always in these. One in top twenty the other 7 top fifty: Schwartzman, Pella, Lajovic, Coric, Garin, Djere, ARV, Ruud. Other notables: Cuevas, Cecchinato, Verdasco. It's quite OK, really.
Casper Ruud - His first title ever and he gets a weird one, at least he'll be able to drink mate like a real gaucho!

New York Open

Nassau Colliseum - pretty spiffy venue, if you ask me.
Another ATP 250, but HC indoor this time. This draw is a bit weaker than the one on clay. Isner, Raonic, Opelka and Humbert have byes while Tennys Sandgren (full name mandatory!), Kecmanovic, Norrie, and Edmund do not. A few more Yankees in the draw but not as many as I expected: Johnson, Sock, Paul, Giron, Shi (never heard of these last two). One more Canuck: Schnur and also Karlovic, Dzumhur, Seppi, Thompson.
Kyle Edmund - So it's a vase. So what? Ginger Power! (he qualifies, right?)

That's all folks!
