The Rose Window, Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, France.
One of the most renowned features of Notre Dame was its stunning collection of stained glass windows. These intricate works of art, dating back to the 13th century, depicted biblical narratives, saints, and symbolic motifs, illuminating the interior with a kaleidoscope of vibrant hues. The Rose Window, a crowning jewel of Gothic artistry, mesmerized visitors with its intricate tracery and radiant portrayal of religious iconography.

Surface: Clay

Draws: Singles 128, Doubles 64, Mixed doubles 32

The tournament, then called the French Championships, began for the men in 1891. It was open only to players who were members of French clubs. The first women’s tourney was held in 1897.

Rafael Nadal and Roland Garros meet again and, without a doubt, it will be special. Some call the French Open The Rafa Nadal Invitational.  Not too far fetched considering his dominance on this court.  Changing the name is out of the question of course.  Certainly the French will not give up their native son, Roland Garros for the Spaniard, but I hazard a guess that in many people's minds it is not too outlandish a proposition.  Although he did not want to confirm it, many believe that this may be the last time he will be seen playing the Grand Slam, which he won no less than 14 times. "The king of brick dust returns to Paris and everyone hopes that it will not be his last time this year in the French capital, where in a couple of months the Olympic Games will take place."Nadal

Personally I think it is a shame that for what will most likely be his Last Dance in the City of Lights, and dare I say Love, his opponent will be the No 4 ranked Alex Zverev.  There is always a silver lining of course and that is the stadium will be packed, the grounds will be packed and the media honchos will be dancing at the viewership.  Yep there is always a silver lining somewhere.

Merci Rafa!!

The Women

Getting ready for Olympics 2024, Paris France.

Rather than having the opening ceremony in a stadium as is customary, Paris is getting innovative with the experience. The plan is to use the River Seine to float approximately 200 boats in front of an estimated crowd of 600,000 people. The banks alongside the river will be able to accommodate around 100,000 people who will have to purchase tickets to the event, but another 500,000 will have the opportunity to have a bird’s eye view from the street level above.
