Stockholm Open ATP 250
Kungliga Tennishallen (Royal Tennis Hall)
Stockholm, Sweden

Royal Tennis Hall

November 7 – 13, 2021

Draw: Singles 28, doubles 16

Defending champ: Denis Shapovalov (2019)

First held in 1969 this is the 52nd edition of the tournament, making it the oldest ATP indoor tourney. John McEnroe and Boris Becker have the most titles with four each.  Although the tournament was cancelled last season because of Covid, this year officials announced there will be full capacity for fans.

Seeds (in order of seeding): Jannik Sinner, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov, Daniel Evans, Taylor Fritz, Alexander Bublik, Marton Fucsovics, Frances Tiafoe
Other notables include: Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Marcos Giron, Tommy Paul, Botic van de Zandschulp.

Withdrawals: Because this is the last regular ATP tournament of the season and the spots for the ATP Finals are decided, it is not surprising there were many withdrawals, 13 in total. They included Zverev, Ruud, Norrie and Hurkacz.

Wildcards: Andy Murray, and Swedish players Leo Borg (Bjorn Borg’s son) and Elias Ymer.

Christmas in Milan

November 9 – 13, 2021

Although this tournament for players aged 21 and under is not a regular ATP tourney and does not give ranking points, they do include it on their schedule. It is a round robin tournament with a different format from other ATP tourneys.

Draw: 8 singles

2019 champ: Jannik Sinner

Group A: Carlos Alcaraz, Brandon Nakashima, Juan Manuel Cerundolo, Holger Rune. (Cerundolo, from Argentina, was the first player from South America to qualify in the event’s history.)

Group B: Sebastian Korda, Lorenzo Musetti, Sebastian Baez, Hugo Gaston
Withdrawals: It is not surprising that Jannik Sinner (ranked No. 9) and Felix Auger-Aliassime (ranked No.11) are not playing because they are past being “Next Gen.” Unfortunately Jenson Brooksby had to withdraw because of injury.

The tournament will try out some new rules, including a one-minute warmup, reduced from four minutes, and one medical time out per match. The bathroom breaks will be a maximum of three minutes plus up to 2 minutes for a change of attire. These changes are significant because this tournament serves as a testing ground for ATP rule changes
