Getting in Gear for Miami

ATP Acapulco, Dubai; WTA St. Petersburg, Monterrey

Indian Wells is a no go for the 2nd year, so we're left looking forward to Miami. This week is the last chance for the players to get some matches. I'm talking here mostly about the WTA top tenners. But they kinda don't care... Understandable, maybe, with everything going on in the world.
So we get two ATP 500, one WTA 500 and one WTA 250. Let's see what's what. Starting with the gents.

Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC, Acapulco

Man, I want to be on that beach!

ATP 500 on HC, outdoor. 32 players in the draw, so no byes. The eight seeds are The Tsi, Zverev, Schwartzman, Raonic, Dimitrov, Fognini, FAA, Ruud. Three top tenners, not bad, not bad at all! Who else is there? Paire, Isner, Cilic, Anderson v The Tiaf, Lopez, Norrie and, AND! Gerardo Lopez Villasenor! That's the homeboy!

Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships

Cool skyline

Another ATP 500, same as the other one, HC outdoor. But this is weirder, with 46 players which means we have byes for 16 seeds and two additional dudes that have to travel late because they've gone deep this week. Here they are: Thiem, Rublev, The Shap, RBA, Goffin, PCB, The Khach, De Minaur, Coric, Lajovic, Evans, Hurkacz, Krajinovic, Fritz, Sinner and Sonego (thanks to The Man withdrawing). The weird byes go to Basilashvili and Ebden. In theory this is weaker than Acapulco (just 2 top tenners), but I don't think it is. Other notables (excluding the ones that already lost today) Nishikori, Struff, Gasquet v Cecchinato, Bernabe Zapata Miralles!, Pospisil v Fucsovics, Jaziri, Albot, 4U.

Onto the ladies.

St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy

Another skyline, but the reflection steals the show

WTA 500, HC indoor. It's a 28 players draw, with top four seeds having byes: Alexandrova, Kudermetova, Ferro and Kuznetsova. The other four seeds are Pavlyuchankova, Ostapenko, Mladenovic and Kasatkina. This very well could be the weakest WTA 500 in a long while: the top seed is #33. Let's see some of the other players: Siniakova v Flipkens, Gasparyan, Zvonareva, Badosa, Cristian, Bogdan v Sasnovich.

Abierto GNP Seguros, Monterrey

Some things look like other things. I like that!

WTA 250, HC outdoor. It's a 32 players draw and it's weak. The seeds are Stephens (yes, she still exists), Podoroska, Zheng, Bouzkova, Watson, Blinkova, SST, Li. Sloane is #44 right now. So who else is in Mexico? LAF v Vandeweghe, Kovinic, Schmiedlova v Boulter, Bouchard, Davis, Trevisan.

C19 still is a thing, awful and shit so the coda will stay:
