100% Europe Indoor

WTA&ATP Moscow; WTA Luxembourg;

ATP Antwerp, Stockholm

The perfect time zone! Right? Right?
It's the men's turn to take the back seat, having three ATP 250s while the women have a Premier and an International.

VTB Kremlin Cup, Moscow

Tsaritsyno Palace in gorgeous autumn sun
But this will happen in a few weeks (If you ask me that umbrella is completely pointless!)
This is a mixed affair. The women have a WTA Premier and the men an ATP 250. Ladies first!

After a lot of shenanigans (Moscow is used to this) Bencic secured a MDWC so she can make a last hurrah effort to get into Shenzhen. She just has to pass Bertens, who's also in Moscow and they're both in the same half, so we can get a SF that decides all! Both looked already pooped in Linz though... So that covers seeds [2] and [3]. The other 6 are Svitolina, Vekic, Yastremska, Sevastova, Sakkari, Alexandrova. Svitolina is qualified to Shenzhen already, and she "loves" playing in Russia, so we might still get another late withdrawal. Top 4 seeds have byes. So who else is there? Jabeur, Tomljanovic, Pavlyuchenkova, Kuznetsova v Muchova, Kasatkina, Sasnovich, Hercog v Siniakova, Mladenovic v Putintseva. Seriously stacked draw for a Premier! Not many are in tip top shape though so I expect retirements. At least three.

And now the gents!

Weirdly enough the draw for this ATP 250 is the same with the women's Premier: eight seeds, first four have byes. Here they are: Medvedev (still in China, the poor man), The Khach, Cilic, Lajovic, Garin, Rublev, Mannarino, Kecmanovic. So last seed is #50. That means the other notables are let's say... meh: Karlovic, Chardy, Kukushkin, Kohlschreiber v Herbert.

BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open

The Philharmonie - so that you know there is new stuff in Luxembourg
A castle - one of the umpteen! Not that it ain't gorgeous, but this is like the skyscrapers in Asia!
Weirdly enough we got Russians here too! Ha! 32 players in the draw, no byes, no nonsense! The eight seeds: Mertens, Goerges, Rybakina, AVU, Kuzmova, Giorgi, Ferro, Blinkova. Others in here: Ostapenko, Petkovic, Gasparyan, Gauff, Pliskova The Lesser, Cirstea.

European Open, Antwerp

That is called a flower carpet!
You might remember this from last year! Port Authority House, I think it's fabulous.
28 players draw which means from the eight seeds, four have byes. Here they are: Monfils, Goffin, Schwartzman, The Man!, Pella, Tsonga, Struff, Cuevas. Who else is there? These guys: The Tiaf, Lopez v Norrie, Simon, Sir Scot Guy, Gasquet.

Intrum Stockholm Open

Remember that subway station in Tashkent? Well, Swedes can do it too!
Stadshus (The City Hall) - I love that tower, the bulky sturdiness ended suddenly by that delicate thing at the top.
Same deal as with the other two: eight seeds, four have byes: Fognini, Dimitrov, Fritz, The Shap, PCB, Opelka, Verdasco, Evans. Jesus, the others list is dire in this one (well... remember, of course, that me + ATP = blah) Fucsovics, Ruud, Albot v Nishioka, Querrey and two Ymers (both WC).

Denis Shapovalov. If you squint you can see your reflection in that trophy. (©LaPresse.ca)
