Outdoor Asia, Indoor Europe

As the title says, we're pretty spread out. WTA continues the Asian Swing on HC outdoor (rain was already a problem last week in China). ATP gets indoors on HC in Europe. Unlike last week we get some big names in action.

WTA Osaka, Guangzhou, Seoul

Toray Pan Pacific Open, Osaka

Osaka Castle and some skyscrapers that ruin the view
This is a WTA Premier (470 points). It has a pretty tough draw despite some weekend withdrawals: Andreescu, Bencic, Vondrousova. So we're left with 8 seeds all in top 25 (and last direct acceptance is Giorgi #52). Osaka, Bertens, Stephens and Kerber have 1st round byes, while Keys, Sevastova, Vekic, Martic gotta play from the start. Also in Japan: fresh winner Hibino, Muguruza v Hsieh 1st round, Mertens, Kasatkina, Garcia, Mladenovic, Yastremska.

And the winner is Naomi Osaka - this is one of the best trophies out there and she won it in the 3rd try. Sweet!

Guangzhou Open

Old Guangzhou (avoiding the skyscraper overload!)
WTA International (280 points). Less big names here, naturally, but still... No byes for anyone. The 8 seeds are: Svitolina, Wang (Q.), Kenin, Zhang, Siniakova, Zheng, Sasnovich, Jabeur. Also here: Stosur, Peterson, Bouzkova, Krunic, Kuznetsova, Rybakina.

And the winner is Sofia Kenin, runner-up Sam Stosur

KEB Hana Bank Korea Open, Seoul

Gyeongbokgung Palace
Another WTA International. Again no byes for the 8 seeds: Sakkari, Alexandrova, Muchova, Linette, Tomljanovic, Hercog, Gasparyan, Wang (Y.). There's a Romanian invasion going on: Tig, Begu, Bogdan, Buzarnescu. Other notables: Ostapenko, Bacsinszky, AVU.

OOP
And the winner is Karolina Muchova, and that is not the Cincy vase!

ATP St. Petersburg, Metz, Laver Cup

St. Petersburg Open

Alexander Column and The Hermitage behind it
ATP 250. Medvedev, The Khach, Berrettini, Coric have byes as top 4 seeds. The other 4 seeds, Rublev, Kukushkin, Mannnarino, Ruud don't. Other notable people in Russia: man, no one pops up. :))
And the winner is Daniil Medvedev (and his forehead)

Moselle Open, Metz

Who cares about Metz when you can see the Moselle Valley?
Another ATP 250. Top 4 seeds have byes: Goffin, Basilashvili, Paire, Pouille. The other 4 seeds gotta play 1st round: Verdasco, Hurkacz, Simon, Struff. Others in here: Gasquet, Copil, PCB, Tsonga, Her- and Hum-bert.

And the winner is Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (weird but cool trophy... and hairdo)

Laver Cup, Geneva

No caption needed! Great pic! :)
So this is an ATP sanctioned exho. Named after this guy:
Rod Laver (GOAT, right?)
Two teams of six players: World and Europe. Which is weird because it means Europe is what? Otherwordly or something? Oh well... Three day event with 3 singles and a doubles match each day. Matches are best of three sets but with a STB as the 3rd set. Teams accumulate points: Friday win is one point, Saturday win is 2 points and Sunday win is 3 points. If the teams are 12 even there's a deciding doubles match.
Here are the teams:
World:
Captain and Vice Captain: McEnroe bros
Players: Isner, Raonic, Kyrgios, Shapovalov, Sock, Fritz, Thompson (alt)
Europe:
Captain and Vice Captain: Borg,  Enqvist
Players: Nadal, Federer, Thiem, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Fognini, RBA (alt)
Well, after listing that I feel sorry for the World! Aahhahhahaaahah!
Team Europe. They came to win.

And the winner is Team Europe (87% successfully pictured)
